Shingapore Schling

Apparently, Sam and crew were learning to make Singapore Slings at their work today (I don't know why). Actual consumption of said Slings occurring at our house this evening. They're a-ight. Sort of tastes like Sunday School Punch. (which, if that's not already the name of a good alcoholic drink, it should be). You really can't taste any liquor in them at all...which may or may not prove to be bad for me tomorrow. There's a scary amount of gin in them. Recipe taken from this site. Beforewarned, Benedictine is very pricey---probably the most expensive thing on the list. There are other versions you can make that use grenadine and are less expensively made, but you're probably veering off the original recipe at that point.

SINGAPORE SLING
Raffles Hotel, Singapore C. 1935
11/2 oz. Gin
1/2 oz. Cherry Herring
1/4 oz. Cointreau
1/4 oz. Benedictine
2 oz. Pineapple Juice
Dash of Angostura Bitters
1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a highball glass. Garnish with orange slice and cherry. Top with soda.
