I know you're not supposed to blog about your job and I won't (directly), but the thing you mainly need to know is: I got my masters degree in Library and Information Science. My current job? Has nothing to do with that. This is why, despite having 18 years of formal education under my belt, I more often than not end up feeling like an idiot. I'm going to be deliberately vague and just tell you that right now, my work consists of using very expensive and fancy recording equipment on which I have zero experience. I'm talking, usually it will take me thirty or more minutes just to figure out how to TURN IT ON. And by the way, I'm not telling you guys anything my bosses don't know. They're all, "you're smart, you'll figure it out." Except I was a little glad they weren't here this morning, as I struggled trying to figure out why my schmancy microphone wasn't making any noises and I know I have my headphones plugged into the right hole because there's the tiny picture of headphones right there, right? right? Am I right? And I have it plugged into the mixer correctly--ok, that took 3 or 4 tries, but I know it's good now because the little light thingie came on, right? SO WHY ISN'T SOUND COMING OUT? Gah! ANd on this goes for, like, seriously 45 minutes before I realize: mute button.

Yeah. Grad School. SO GLAD I'M STILL PAYING FOR THAT.

Hey! I'm considering getting a master's in LIS so I can be a school librarian. Tell me all about it (and make sure you tell me how to pass the math portion of the GRE). Also, my undergrad degree was in Radio-Television-Film, which means absolutely nothing to my current job but might help me figure out how to turn on the machines at your job.

A friend of mine was a few credit shy of his PHD in physics when he decided he was burned out and quit school. He's been working for a statistical analytics software company ever since. And he only fell into that career by accident.

Life just takes you a different direction, sometimes.

Allison, you and Lee need to switch degrees - then I'm sure she'd know exactly what to do with all of those thingamajiggers and hoosiewhatsits. LOL
