various food related things

Did you know that your tastebuds change every seven years or so?
This might explain why I've started being ok with tomatoes on my sandwiches lately and why this morning I voluntarily ate oatmeal for the first time in 28 years. No, I'm not pregnant.
Also, I got The Omnivore's Dilemma for Kids for Christmas. Yeah, I know. I'm entirely too wimpy to read the adult's version. I already know that after reading it, I'm going to have to plan all my meals based around what I can grow in our carefully tended backyard garden kept organically free of pests and you know what that means: Mr. Bean and I will be scrapping each other for grass because I can't grow things for shit.
Lastly, Food Network has a new show called Worst Cooks in America in which to they get to make fun of the contestants and feel very smug for about 55 minutes while spending maybe 5 minutes of each episode on actual cooking instruction which, come on, missed opportunity. For those of us who are actually really terrible cooks, a show on Basic 101 How Not Boil the Crap Out of Vegetables would be a heck of a lot more interesting than watching Chef Beau smirking and Chef Anne indignantly tossing around her Buddy Pine hair. This show, it does not do good things.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved that. So much, in fact, that I don't think I'll ever get the iced tea I spewed completely wiped outta my keyboard.
