Hey guys, just a quick checkin--The Gnome of Doom, or as he likes to be called around here: G.O.D. is doing great. We had another near repeat performance of Hopper's neat little trick of losing more than 10% of his body weight in the hospital, but after hovering around 9.5% weigh loss, Rowan rallied. And by "rallied" I mean, sucked down about 3 days worth of milk in about 2 minutes right before his weigh in. They let us come home yesterday. wooooooo! Yall have no idea how happy I am to be out of there. You know how everyone says, "Oh, enjoy the hospital because it's the last time you'll get any sleep while the nurses take care of the baby"... Um, yeah. Not so much. I think I got about an hour and a half of sleep in those 5 days. My nurses were more than happy to take him down to the nursery for a little pinchy cheeks and gabbing, but if that kid so much as made a peep, they brought him back and said, "GIVE HIM YOUR BOOB." The notorious G.O.D., however, does not like the boob. Well, I take that back, he likes to hug it. Or use it as a pillow. To feed from it: Eh, whatever. We saw three lactation specialists, 2 pediatricians and went through a rotation of 12 labor and delivery nurses--all of whom have their own tried and true method of getting baby to latch on and nurse properly. He did it I think 3 times? The rest of the time he just got mad and was like "GIVE ME THE DAMNED BOTTLE ALREADY." But, we're still trying. And the milk is there. So we have our little Elsie the Cow machine and we're making it work.

And I can hear him snurfling, so I gotta run. MOre later!

I know I haven't done a "birth story" post or a Here he IS! one other than on Facebook, so in case you happen to have missed it, um, here he is? (and yes, the hair is still crazy).

Zoe was born on a Thursday at 7:55am at Seton. Do you have Dr. Yium too? Have we already talked about this?

Anyway, I am happy to hear that you're finally home. That hospital stay is brutal.

Ha! no, it's Dr. Oliver--she's in the same office. Hopper was also born on a Thursday at 7:55 am. I think they have that timing thing down pat.
