Cartology

This is a billboard currently up on South First Street. Maybe you've seen it. If not, let me share:

It's an ad for Laser Hair Removal that features a maze made of what one can only assume is meant to be pubic hair and the words: "Help Him Find His Way." Now, as you may or may not know, I am ALL FOR Free Speech. Therefore, I won't rant about who or what OK'ed this for a well-travelled street within two miles of at least 3 elementary schools that I know of. I won't even go off about how stupid and reckless a message this is for young girls who are growing up in a world where sex-tapes are now a legitimate way to get on the cover of People Magazine and slutty Halloween costumes exist in toddler sizes. I will, however, just say this:

Ladies, if a map is needed, A LITTLE BIT OF BODY HAIR IS THE LEAST OF YOUR PROBLEMS.

Can I just say that THIS is the reason I'm freaking out about having a baby girl? It may be a cop out, but I was hoping for all boys just so I wouldn't have to deal with shit like this.

First: SQUEEEEE!Baby Girl!!! yayyy! Congrats! I knew you were expecting, but I didn't know about the girl part.

Second: I feel you.If I were a mom of a daughter, I would be scared too. Maybe I'm just getting prudish in my old age, but the shit just keeps getting more and more ridiculous for girls these days. I remember when we used to get teased in fourth grade for not shaving our legs. Now , it's de rigeur for Middle School girls to know what a "landing strip" is (and to want one, ugh).
I'm trying to figure out how to raise my boys to have more respect for women than that.

My 9 yr old step-daughter has drawings in her diary of herself and her little "crush" boyfriend in the most compromising positions....she is a very talented artist, let me say. I'm scared to death what may happen to her when she is not in our care. I can assure you my son will be safe...or I'll be making spaghetti and meatballs.
