so, what have yall got going on this week? it's been a busy Nugget Planning week for me. Monday night I had a breastfeeding class. You'd think that's all a sort of natural thing, but I'm here to tell ya: nope. I actually learned some pretty interesting stuff in that class. Like how just hearing a baby cry can make someone start leaking milk. Ok, I should probably back up and say that if you are one of those people who think that breasts aren't actually intended by god soley to FEED BABIES, you should probably avert your attention elsewhere for a bit.. Yes, I know it's probably a bit of a blow. Especially to those girls on the Rock of Love Bus.. Anyway, did you know that breastmilk goes for about $25/oz on the market today? crazy. Then last night Sam and I both had a Baby Care Basics class. To be honest, this was more for ME than for Sam. Sam already knows all this stuff. Once again, I learned a lot from this one too, like where those tabs go on the diapers (in the back). Don't look at me. I haven't been in close contact with a diaper in probably 20 years since that last time I babysat when I was 14. (you see how I magically shaved off 3 years of my age there? that was pretty good, huh?). And today, I go for an interview with our potential pediatrician. I'm not really sure if the interview is for HER or for ME. Like, which one of us is going to be asking the questions?? But I've got some prepared just in case. I don't think it's wrong to ask her how she feels about sedatives, do you?

I love Rock of Love Bus! It's terrible!

Yeah, there's actually a lot to learn about breastfeeding. Kudos for going.

re: pediatrician. You're asking the questions. get the list ready. ask her a lot of questions so you can see if she tries to rush you.

Yay for breastfeeding! You know what else can make you leak in public? Thinking about your baby. Hearing another baby. Seeing a picture of your baby. Or another baby. Or a child who used to be a baby. Also, NOTHING AT ALL. They just shoot off randomly sometimes during the first few months.

:)

Have fun!

Also, are you sure you aren't interested in cloth diapers? Saves the environment, saves your baby's butt, saves money...

my favorite part was when I asked if you could "practice" with your breast pump beforehand and she let it slip that doing so releases oxytocin and it would make you go into labor... !!!! DUDE, you should NOT have told me this... Why would anyone go OVER your due date when you could just hook up the pump to the hooters and away you go?? I'm sure there is something fundamentally wrong with this way of thinking, but...(dude!)

I think we are not brave enough for cloth diapers..we are giving it thought.Lots of thought. But I'm not sure we're going to do it. We might try it for a bit when we have all our other neuroses under control.

Maybe she should have said, "it MIGHT make you go into labor." I'll let you know after tonight, because a friend of mine is about to try everything. Including castor oil. Yuck.
