People are Insane

So, you know that thing I linked to on Monday about the different ways to try and turn the baby and I was all "ha ha aren't the crazy hippies hilarious tee hee?" Well, as it turns out, the crazy hippies are the least of your worries when you have a breech baby. Also to contend with are all the folks who would like you to stand on your head underwater, lie upside down on an ironing board propped up on a chair, keep clothespins clamped down on your pinkie toes (bastardized version of the acupuncture, btw) and any number of other things that sound like medieval torture. Apparently, the prevailing attitude is that you should try absolutely anything anyone tells you to try short of fitting yourself into a washing machine and going straight for the spin cycle because you should avoid a c-section AT ANY COST. And the thing of it is? I mean, I appreciate the concern, and yes a c-section sounds kinda sucky with the bigger cost and longer recovery time, but DUDE, I don't think it's going to be the end of the world if it happens. Also, some of these suggestions I'm hearing sound a little dangerous. Trust me, if I tried a headstand underwater right now, I would probably drown. You think I'm kidding, I am not. There is not a lot of coordination in my game in the best of circumstances, not to mention being 9mths pregnant means having the motor skills of Jabba the Hut. I'm lucky at this point that I can still put on pants in the mornings--and for that I have to have something to lean onto. Seriously. It ain't pretty. So, universe, thanks for the suggestions, but we're going to haveta take a pass.

No kidding! Some of that stuff sounded truly unsafe. Hopefully I wasn't one of the crazy people...

All that matters is that you & the nugget are safe and well cared for. And call me crazy but I think that's in a hospital, not upside down under water :)

TODAY a girl at my office told me she was set and scheduled for her c-section and went in and the baby had TURNED that morning!!! There is hope!

I had a C-section with Ian. I had a V-back with Rader. The entire time I was pregnant with Rader I begged for the C-section. Doc was all "Nope. Sorry. You get to do it right this time." (he was much more hippy than I was) If you have to have a C-section, trust me, it will be okay. Do not do anything involving clothespins, water, bodyparts and upside you.
