We lived in the same house at 57 Circle Lake Drive outside of Little Rock from the time I was born until I was 17. From the age of about 3 until 4th grade, I was best friends with a girl across the street named Amy, til she and her family moved to Louisiana. Amy and I were out of touch for most of the last 30 years or so, but as it happens, we reconnected on Facebook a couple of years ago. And now, Amy might even be moving to Austin. Who knows, we could be neighbors again! Anyway, Amy posted these in a facebook album so I am shamelessly stealing them.
I remember this wheelbarrow, that swimming pool and that garden tiller, as well as those matching bathing suits my sisters and I are wearing. They were like super-thick 70's polyester with hardly any stretch. It was like swimming in a leisure suit without buttons. I don't, however, remember being that much shorter than everyone else.

This is on our front porch. It was Amy's birthday, so it must have been right around now in July (the 26th?) I think we were about 6 or 7 here. I remember the pink gauchos I'm wearing. That's right: gauchos baby. I LOVED that outfit. We were always hanging around in a pack like this. If Amy wasn't wearing a dress, I would have guessed we all just got done with game of kickball.
